When to visit Qatar
The best time to visit Qatar is between November and March, when the weather is more mild, perfect for exploring the desert, strolling the Corniche, or wandering souqs without melting into the pavement.
Summer, from June to September, is brutally hot (think 45°+). Best avoided unless you’re only there for air-conditioned malls and luxury hotels. I went in August and I gotta tell ya — I’ve never been so sweaty in my life.
Shoulder seasons like April and October are less roasty, quieter, and sometimes cheaper. But if you’re just doing an extended layover with the Qatar Stopover Program, you’ll have a good time whenever you go.

Get an eSIM for your trip to Qatar
Especially if you’re just visiting for a couple days, you don’t want to waste time trying to get a local SIM card. And roaming charges are unnecessarily expensive. The quick fix? An eSIM. Qatar was the first place I ever used an eSIM and it was awesome — I activated it as soon as we landed and had unlimited internet access for our whole trip. I used Airalo, but Saily, Holafly, ETravelSim, and Jetpac Global all have eSIMs for Qatar.
In this case, Jetpac may be your best option because it comes with a super random perk: Free lounge access if your flight is delayed. And Doha Hamad Int’l has some pretty swish lounges, so if there’s one way you’d want your flight to be delayed, it’s here!
