I’m Canadian, which means I grew up thinking 25°C was hot and anything over 30° was basically a national emergency. I am not built for hot destinations, and yet I’m forever drawn to them. I tested a handful of Aecooly fans on my recent trip through Indonesia and Singapore, and am here to report back. I think they’re great, but not every model is ideal for when you’re on the go. Here’s my honest review.

Aecooly review: the fan models I tested
If you’ve ever stepped off a plane in a tropical country and felt like the humidity just punched you in the face, you’ll understand the beauty of a portable fan. I tested a handful of Aecooly fans on a recent trip through Indonesia and Singapore, and they saved me from melting.
Some Aecooly fans are small enough to slip in your pocket, others are better suited for your desk at home. Here are the models I tried:
Portable Handheld Fan Pocket 01 (my personal favorite)
Handheld High-Speed Fan Aero Ultra
Handheld High-Speed Fan Aero Pro
Portable Handheld Fan Halo 01
Table Fan Chic 01

Features of all the Aecooly fans I tried
So that I don’t have to mention these repetitively, here are the major features they all have. And what every Aecooly fan comes with:
- USB-C ports
- Great battery life
- Charging cables (USB to USB-C)
- Wrist strap (ok not the table fan)
- Easy to use
- Feel solid
Portable Handheld Fan Pocket 01
This is my top choice! The Pocket 01 is small, has its own casing so it’s quite sturdy. I always toss it into my daypack or purse.
What I like most is how long it holds a charge. I used it across a few long travel days and never once had to worry about it dying on me. It’s also quiet, so I never feel self-conscious using it out in public. Whether I was on the beach in Lombok or waiting in line at a hawker market in Singapore, it was easy to access it and cool down a bit.
I even used it to dry my sheets at a hostel once lol. I spilled some water on my bunk and didn’t want my roommates to think I’d peed the bed. 10/10 multi-purpose fan.

Cons? Just two little things:
You can’t see how much battery the Aecooly pocket fan has left. It lasts for days, but the mystery does leave something to be desired.
It doesn’t come with a pouch. But the way it’s designed feels solid and well-protected. So I don’t actually think it needs one, but I like that some of the other models come with a pouch.
If you only want one travel fan, this is the one I recommend. I saw a girl at the airport with the exact same one as me, so I’m not the only fan. (I had to make that joke as least once, come on.)
Handheld High-Speed Fan Aero Ultra
The Aero Ultra is the opposite of the Pocket 01. It’s got way more goin’ on. More speed settings (including “turbo” mode), a clear display that shows battery percentage and speed level, and a little protective pouch.
In theory, I like the wider range of settings. The lowest mode is gentle enough for indoor use. If you crank it up to the max turbo setting it’s quite loud — too loud for my taste. But it’ll certainly cool you down! Like all the Aecooly fans I tried, the battery life is excellent.
One thing I really love is the range of colour options. They’re the best of all the Aecooly models if you ask me.

But here’s where it loses points in my book as a travel fan:
The power button isn’t protected. So it actually switched on in my bag twice (even in its pouch) while I was moving through the airport. Fortunately not when I was going through security. Or the sound might have raised some alarm bells and gotten me pulled aside!
It’s louder than the Pocket 01. Not unbearable by any means, but enough that you’ll notice in quieter locations/situations.
Handheld High-Speed Fan Aero Pro
The Aero Pro is very similar to the Aero Ultra. It has the same fast cooling power, multiple speeds, and great battery performance. It’s slightly sleeker than, with fewer “extras” than the Ultra.
The noise level is comparable, and it has the same “on” button issue. Definitely fine if you have a little case for it or a solid spot where it’s protected in your bag.

The “on” button dilemma up front & USB-C charging port at the back
The only real difference I can see in the functionality is that this one has 6 speed settings while the Ultra has 7. And they have slightly different colour choices. It’s super lightweight. In fact, all the Aero range fans weigh less than a smart phone.

Portable Handheld Fan Halo 01
The Halo 01 is another travel-friendly pick, though it’s bulkier than the Pocket 01. I brought it along on a few day trips, and while it worked well, it doesn’t pack down and is noticeably heavier.
It’s fine if you’ve got a bigger tote bag or whatever, but it’s not quite as portable as its name might suggest. Performance-wise, it feels sturdy and (like the others) holds a charge beautifully. I used it for four days without needing to charge it.
The only real con for me is the weight/size. And it has fewer colours to choose from. but I still think it looks cute.

The Halo 02 is very similar but is a bit of an upgrade with a screen that shows you the battery percentage. And it folds so you could use it as a desk/bedside table fan. Handy for when you accidentally booked a room without air conditioning.
Table Fan Chic 01
The Chic 01 is definitely not for your backpack! But the Aecooly team sent it along with the other samples and it’s been great to have at my home office desk! New Zealand gets hot in the summer but I love to have the window open for some fresh air when I’m working.
It’s quiet enough that I can answer the phone without annoying background noise. I wouldn’t travel with it, but for everyday use at home, it’s a great little upgrade.

Aecooly review key takeaways
Portable fans have gone from a nice-to-have to one of my must-pack essentials. I used to pick up a folding paper fan when I was overseas, but they’re easy to damage when you toss them in your pack. The Aecooly fans I tried are a good modern solution.
The most travel-friendly option: Hands down the Portable Handheld Fan Pocket 01. It’s compact, quiet, and incredibly reliable.
For more features: The Aero Ultra or Aero Pro will keep you cooler than cool.
For your home office: The Chic 01 is a nice aesthetic and reliable option for everyday living.
There was nothing wrong with the Halo, it just didn’t stand out to me. However, the folding 02 model is a bit more interesting.
I tested Aecooly across Indonesia and Singapore — on boats and buses without AC, walking through markets, and even at restaurants. As someone with an easily-rouged face, having a fan was a lifesaver.
More about Aecooly
They have more than just the fans I tried! The modular camper set looks cute and great for RV, camper van, and car camping adventures. It has a flashlight, water nozzle, air pump, and can act as a portable charger. Pretty handy!
